Effects of contemplative pedagogy in higher education

Can contemplative pedagogies such as mindfulness, contemplation and mindful self-inquiry increase experiential learning, well-being and meaning for students in higher-education programs? We are implementing and studying the effects of various contemplative pedagogies in under-graduate and professional development training.

Understanding context sensitive mindfulness for increasing diversity and inclusion of mindfulness programs and investigating how these programs can support wellbeing and flourishing of marginalized and challenged groups and communities

Understanding physiological mechanism of compassion and empathy

Understanding the underlying mechanisms and working ingredients of mindfulness and other well-being cultivating practices.

The Sagol Center for Brain and Mind, directed by Prof. Nava Levit-Binnun, is a research center for both basic and applied neuroscience. The center has two main branches. The first is devoted to neuroscience research. The second is devoted to community outreach through dissemination of knowledge from brain research along with tools for brain and mental training supporting well-being and flourishing. The center was founded in 2009 through generous funding by the Sagol family, and is housed within the Baruch Ivcher School of Psychology at the Reichman University. Read more…
